What is the FAFSA?

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®) is an application each aspiring student or current student will need to complete each year to apply for federal grants, work-study, and loans. With this application, the school the student wishes to attend will be able to determine their federal aid eligibility.

*This applies for undergraduate and graduate students.

Why use FAFSA Formula?

Even though it is completely free to complete your FAFSA application, the best option for students and parents is to hire FAFSA Formula as their preparer. FAFSA Formula will make the process fast, and easy. FAFSA Formula advisors are trained to catch mistakes that even the Department of Education's computer misses and be able to assist the student in receiving the maximum federal aid they are eligible for.

How is aid calculated?

When students complete their FAFSA application, the student will be given an EFC(Estimated Family Contribution). The EFC is calculated according to a formula established by law. The department of education’s formula will take into consideration the students family's taxed and untaxed income, assets, and benefits as well as the number of members in the household to determine the student’s EFC.

Do all students qualify for the Pell Grant?

No, the student's EFC must fall within the department of education threshold to obtain the pell grant.

What is an FSA ID?

The FSA ID is a credential that students and parents should create in order to obtain easy access to Federal Student Aid websites. The FSA ID is linked to your Social Security number and it is a direct way for students and parents to sign all of their federal aid applications and have them processed.
